Be back soon
Hey...holidays, school, work, and lack of Internet access have put the blog unintentionally on hiatus, but hang in there. We'll have plenty of new posts and good music added within the week!
On a serious note…
In conjunction with , there are some illustrations of Mohammed with the Neo name on them being passed around the club. We have a few things that we'd like to say about this.
First of all, we don't have a problem with the concept behind the event. As creative people ourselves, we don't feel that anyone should be censored, and certainly no religion is above social or political satire. However, Everybody Draw Mohammed Day is not meant to be a platform for racism, and in this instance that's all that it is.
We find the artwork in question offensive and absolutely do not in any way condone it. You will not see these cards at our events. We have expressed our views to the management as well, and the club is disassociating itself immediately.
We invite all people of any race or religion. Atomic is a party; we are here to have fun, not to judge, and we hope to create an atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable.
Sincerely,
Lisa and Kamar
The Handsome Devilz: Girlfriend In A Coma
What I love about the Handsome Devilz is that they are the least pretentious musicians I have ever met. They know they’re talented and have had success in other bands playing their own music, but they absolutely love The Smiths and Morrissey and dedicate a night a month covering their heroes at the Abbey Pub. Lisa and I are big fans of their night “The Queen Is Dead” and look forward to hosting their after show party on the last Thursday of every month. If you go to the show this week, remember that Atomic is free with a wristband or ticket stub from the Abbey and you’ll get to hear Guest DJ Arturo spin a Smiths/Morrissey set!
